Rain lashes Athens, causing floods
Heavy rain and gale-force winds have caused flooding in Athens and difficulties in other parts of Greece, including the Peloponnese, where a fisherman has been reported missing.
The fire service has been called to more than 100 homes in Athens following incessant rain throughout Thursday. The southern suburb of Glyfada as well as Ekali and Melissia in northern Athens have been particularly badly hit.
In Glyfada, strong winds blew down a tree, which fell on two parked cars. Nobody was hurt.
There has been heavy snow in parts of central and northern Greece and ships are not sailing because of the gales blowing in the Aegean and the Ionian seas.
A 31-year-old fisherman has been reported missing off Tolo in the Peloponnese.
