Landfill appeal rejected
The country?s highest administrative court on Friday overruled an appeal by the municipalities of Lavreotiki and Grammatiko in southeast Attica against plans for two landfills to be built in their respective areas, which include Keratea, the site of long battles between anti-landfill protesters and police in 2010 and 2011.
The Council of State rejected claims that the landfills pose a public health hazard and are a threat to the environment and cultural heritage sites.
