Commuters face more upheaval next week

Commuters are to face fresh upheaval next week as public transport workers have announced more walkouts in protest at reforms to their services even though the changes were voted into law earlier this week.

On Monday, both bus and trolley bus workers are to walk off the job between 11 a.m. and 4.30 p.m. On Tuesday trolley buses will remain out of service between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. while staff on the Piraeus-Kifissia electric railway (ISAP) are to walk out between noon and 4 p.m.

Commuters? woes will peak on Wednesday when workers on most modes of public transport are to join a 24-hour strike announced by the country?s two main labor unions. ISAP will run a limited service between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to allow protesters to travel to and from protest rallies in the center. Thursday is expected to be trouble-free, though bus workers are to walk out again on Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and trolley bus workers from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
