Fourteen arrested in Patra clashes
Police made 14 arrests on Saturday night in the western port city of Patra during clashes between rival political groups sparked by an event hosted by ultranationalist party Golden Dawn at a local hotel.
The event was attacked by a group of far-left protesters, who clashed with officers policing the gathering.
The suspects will face a prosecutor on Sunday amid heightened security as authorities fear further altercations between Golden Dawn supporters and extreme leftists.
Patra, a university town, has often been a battle ground between leftists opposed to Golden Dawn and far-right supporters.
