Greece’s National Organization of Medicines chief resigns

The head of the National Organization of Medicines (EOF), Yiannis Tountas, handed his resignation to new Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis on Thursday.

Tountas, who spent more than three years heading the medicines watchdog, had made his plans to step aside known a week ago.

Tountas said that EOF had helped the government reduce Greece’s drugs bill by 2.4 billion euros since the crisis began.
