Trafficker opens fire on Greek-Turkish border
A suspected people smuggler opened fire on Greek police officers at the Greek-Turkish border shortly after midnight on Thursday, prompting the officers to shoot back, but there were no reports of any injuries.
The gunman, who had been hiding on the Turkish side of the border, fired at the officers with a pistol at least three times, police said.
A group of 11 undocumented migrants, identified as Moroccans and Somalians, were detained along with their suspected Turkish smuggler. A similar incident occurred in the area last month, also without injuries.
