Health Ministry unveils plan for free clinics

Free Pap tests for the detection of cervical cancer will be offered along with consultations by municipal clinics, according to an action plan announced by Health Minister Andreas Loverdos on Wednesday, which is being organized in collaboration with the City of Athens.

Loverdos said that the free tests are a crucial part of the ministry?s campaign to combat cancer, adding that all municipal clinics will become part of the free consultation scheme by September.

The minister also warned of a rise in HIV infection rates, attributed to the thriving illegal sex trade.
