Zakynthos taxi driver faces murder charges

A taxi driver accused of stabbing a young British tourist to death on the Ionian island of Zakynthos has been charged with murder. Stelios Morfis, 21, could be facing up to 20 years behind bars if found guilty of the death of 19-year-old Robert Sebbage at the island?s Laganas resort on July 13. A fellow cab driver is facing charges of complicity to commit murder.

Morfis said he was provoked by a group of young men who were flashing laser pens at him. Jordan Manson, also stabbed in the attack, remains in serious condition in hospital. The family of the slain 18-year-old flew to Zakynthos to identity the body last week.

?My heart goes out to another mother, please tell her I want to hold her,? said the Australian-born mother of the accused, Louise Morfis, to The Observer. ?No one can judge pain and no one feels it like the mother of a child.?
