Arrests made over May murder, burglary spree

Police on Monday arrested four people — three Albanian men aged 24, 25 and 39, respectively, and a Greek woman aged 37 — believed to be behind a string of robberies in Volos in northeastern Greece targetting elderly people, and the murder of a 55-year-old woman, who had been beaten to death in her home in May.

The group is suspected of carrying out at least seven burglaries since April, in which the victims were bound and gagged, and often physically abused.

The 25-year-old is already looking at two pending arrest warrants, one of which is for attempted manslaughter, while the 27-year-old has previously served time in prison on human trafficking charges.
