Doctors, nurses walk out on Wednesday
Hospital doctors and nurses are staging a 24-hour strike on Wednesday to protest the government?s plans to merge services at many of the country?s public hospitals, a plan which medical professionals have dismissed as ?knee-jerk and shoddy.?
The hospitals will operate on skeleton staff.
Protesters are due to gather in front of the Health Ministry at noon.
Hospital staff argue that Health Minister Andreas Loverdos should be focusing more on hiring new personnel as they claim that 20,000 people have left the service in the last two years.
