Digital signal to be switched on for TVs on Crete
Some 350,000 residents of Crete will be able to receive a digital signal on their TVs from Wednesday.
Viewers who have an MPEG4 decoder will be able to watch digital quality television in the prefectures of Iraklio, Hania and Rethymno but will not receive programs via analog broadcasts as this signal will be switched off.
This area covers about 60 percent of the island’s population.
The digital signal is to be broadened to cover the rest of the island at a later date.
