No danger of Cyprus-type blast, Beglitis says
Defense Minister Panos Beglitis on Friday provided assurances that there is no danger of the Greek armed forces experiencing fatal explosions like the recent one at a naval base on Cyprus, which killed 13 people.
?There is no danger from the ordnance of the armed forces, which are stored in various places around the country,? he said.
?We strictly follow international regulations and all the NATO guidelines on their storage and maintenance.?
Beglitis said Greece has about 20,000 tons of defunct ordnance that have to be destroyed.
