Man confesses to murder by phone

A 40-year-old man walked into a gas station outside Lamia in central Greece at noon on Thursday and asked to use the telephone to call the police and confess to a murder.

The man claimed to have killed his wife on Monday, and waited for the police to arrive and arrest him.

According to police sources, the day after the killing, the car of the man, who was their prime suspect, had been spotted and put under surveillance.
