Indignant in Thessaloniki agree to dismantle camp
Members of the Indignant movement, which has been protesting austerity measures since May, said on Thursday that they will be taking down their makeshift camp at the foot of the emblematic White Tower in the northern port city.
Their announcement comes in response to a statement by Thessaloniki Mayor Yiannis Boutaris on state broadcaster ET3 that he — like his counterpart in Athens did over a protest camp set up on Syntagma Square — would take legal action if the tents were not cleared.
The protesters warned, however, that they will be holding a rally on August 25 to coincide with the opening of the Thessaloniki International Fair.
