Tourism workers to walk out on Tuesday
Workers in the tourism sector are to hold a 24-hour strike on Tuesday, August 23, with a protest rally due to begin in central Klafthmonos Square at 11 a.m.
Unionists have called the walkout to protest the government?s plans to strike certain professions — including cooks, bakers, dishwashers and chambermaids — off a list entitling hazard pay.
Participation in the strike is expected to be low and to have little impact on tourism services.
On Sunday, dozens of protesting workers staged a protest rally outside the capital?s Acropolis Museum but did not prevent visitors from entering the museum.
