Meatballs with traces of E. coli withdrawn
The Hellenic Food Authority (EFET) on Tuesday ordered the withdrawl of German-manufactured meatballs, trading at the Lidl supermarket chain under the name Marvest, after tests on samples taken from stores in central and western Greece revealed traces of the potentially fatal bacteria E. coli.
EFET officials reportedly confiscated 2.4 tons of the product, which are to be destroyed.
