INFORMAL EUROPEAN COUNCIL 08.30 – 09.20 The heads of state/government and ministers for foreign affairs of the member states and the acceding countries are received by the president of the European Council and the Greek minister for foreign affairs at the entrance of the Zappeion Hall. 09.20 – 09.25 The president of the Convention and the president of the European Parliament arrive at the Zappeion Hall and are received by the president of the European Council. 09.30 – 10.00 Meeting of the European Council with the president of the European Parliament. 10.00 – 12.00 Meeting of the European Council on the Convention. 12.00 – 12.30 Presidency press conference (Zappeion Press Center, Aigli Cinema). 12.00 – 12.50 Press conferences of the participating countries (Zappeion Press Center, Karaiskaki Square). 13.00 – 14.20 Lunch for the heads of state/government and ministers for foreign affairs. 12.00 – 15.00 Parallel lunch (buffet) for the delegations (Aigli – Rooms Olympia 1 and 2 ). CEREMONY OF THE SIGNATURE OF THE TREATY OF ACCESSION 13.15 Departure of delegations (only those invited to the ceremony) from the Zappeion Hall. 13.30 – 14.20 Arrival of delegations at the venue of the ceremony of the Signature of the Treaty of Accession (Stoa of Attalos, Ancient Agora). 14.20 Departure of the president of the European Council for the Stoa of Attalos. 14.30 – 15.15 Heads of state/government and ministers for foreign affairs arrive at the Stoa of Attalos in protocol order and are received by the president of the European Council and the Greek minister for foreign affairs. 15.15 Beginning of the ceremony of the Signature of the Treaty of Accession. 15.15 – 17.30 Speeches (3 minutes) and signature according to the following procedure: – Speech by the president of the European Council. Both plenipotentiaries for Greece sign the Treaty of Accession and its Final Act. – Speeches by the heads of state/government of the member states and of the acceding countries (in alphabetical order). – At the end of each speech, the two signatory plenipotentiaries proceed to the signature table and sign the two parts of the single multilingual act (Treaty & Final Act). – Speech by the president of the European Parliament. – Speech by the president of the European Commission. 17.30 – 17.45 Family photo. 17.50 Departure of the prime minister, the president of the Commission and of the heads of state/government of the 10 acceding states for a joint press conference. 18.00 Departure of the heads of state/government of the member states for the press briefings. 18.00 – 19.00 Presidency Press Conference with the participation of the heads of state/government of the 10 acceding states. Venues A) The informal meeting of the European Council will be held at the Zappeion Hall on Tuesday, April 16 at 09.30. B) The ceremony for Signature of the Accession Treaty will be held at the Stoa of Attalos, situated in the Ancient Agora, at the foot of the Acropolis on April 16 beginning at 15.15. C) The European Conference will be held at the Zappeion Hall, on April 17 at 09.00. (This is a provisional program provided by the Foreign Ministry and may be subject to changes.)
