Transport strike on Thursday
There will be no service on the Athens metro, city buses, trolley buses, the tram, the suburban railway (Proastiakos) and on the national rail network on Thursday, as employees stage a 24-hour strike to protest the government?s plans to streamline their services, transfer staff to other public sector jobs and to put thousands of civil servants on a heavily docked salary for the next 12 months.
Unionists are to meet during the strike to discuss further action. Taxis should be running as normal.
