Hospital unions vow further action over cutbacks after Friday’s strike

Public hospital workers said on Friday, during a 24-hour strike, that they would continue protesting cutbacks to health spending.

The union representing hospital employees, POEDIN, said that some 3,000 people took part in its protest outside the Health Ministry and that the doctors’ union, OENGE, had agreed that there should be further action.

POEDIN said that as a result of cutbacks, hospitals are experiencing shortages of basic items.
