SMS applications to avoid real estate levy
Taxpayers who fall within the small group of homeowners that is exempt from paying the imminent emergency real estate tax have to send their details via text message to the Finance Ministry, it was revealed on Thursday.
Some long-term unemployed Greeks are exempt from the tax, which will cost between 0.5 and 20 euros per square meter, while large families and the disabled will only have to pay the minimum rate.
The ministry said that those who fall into these categories should send their tax number and electricity connection number to 54160, with the letters ETA at the start of the SMS.
