Judges mulling conditional release for Ephraim

A council of appeals court judges will decide whether to remand Ephraim, the former chief monk at Vatopedi Monastery, in custody or grant him conditional release, following a disagreement between a magistrate and a prosecutor following his defense on Thursday.

Ephraim had received a 10-month suspended jail sentence in December 2010 for being a moral accomplice to a breach of duty.
