Evros fence gets OK from Court of Audit

The Court of Audit on Wednesday approved the government?s plans to build a 12.5-kilometer fence on Greece?s border with Turkey.

The structure is designed to combat illegal immigration but the European Commission revealed this week that it would not provide any funding for the project as it doubts that it will reduce the flow of migrants from Turkey.

Instead, the money for the fence will come from the public investment program. The contract for the project has not been awarded yet.
