The Temple of Maranos…

The Temple of Maranos, dating from the second half of the second century AD, is part of the fortified ancient city of Hatra in northwestern Iraq’s desert. The site combines Hellenistic and Roman architecture with Eastern decorative features and was added to UNESCO’s World Heritage List in 1985. The Iraq war and subsequent looting spared it, said the European Photo Agency, which distributed this photo yesterday.
