Tax inspectors accuse deputy minister of intervention

The head of the tax inspectors? union, Charalambos Nikolakopoulos, on Wednesday accused Deputy Agriculture Minister Asterios Rontoulis of intervening to prevent the merging of two tax offices in his constituency in central Greece.

Rontoulis, an MP with the Popular Orthodox Rally (LAOS), which is a junior partner in the coalition government, is accused of asking for the tax offices in Aghia and Tyrnavos not to be merged into one and the Finance Ministry allegedly accepted his request.

Nikolakopoulos claimed this was just one example of frequent political intervention in tax inspectors? work.
