Robbers make off with monastery’s votive offerings

Some 300,000 euros? worth of votive offerings were stolen on Tuesday from a monastery in Iraklio, Crete, by a group of unknown assailants who made their way into the abbot?s cell.

The robbers broke down the main entrance door and, after gaining access to the abbot?s quarters, broke a glass case containing an icon of the Virgin Mary and stole the votive offerings stored inside.
