Crete teacher charged with teen molestation

A 22-year-old female teacher at a rural primary school in Hania, Crete, was remanded in custody on Tuesday after the mother of a 15-year-old student accused her of sexual molestation of a minor.

Investigators alerted by the parent of the teenage boy, working with officers from the electronic crimes squad, found evidence suggesting that the young educator had been using social networking website Facebook to organize meetings with boys aged from 10-15 years old by offering them private tutorials at her home and then luring them into bed.

The charges against the teacher were presented to an Athens first instance prosecutor, who issued a warrant allowing investigators access to the suspect’s private online communications, where they found scores of «conversations» with minors, including the 15-year-old whose mother issued criminal charges.

The teenage boy was subsequently questioned by officers and admitted to having been to the teacher’s home on several occasions over the past five months on her invitation via the social networking website, as well as to having performed sexual acts with her.

Officers also found, during a search of the teacher’s home, scores of photographs in her home and on her Facebook page, showing her in sexual poses with various male partners, whose identities are still being investigated to ascertain whether they are minors.
