Prostitution racket busted in Argolida

Police in Argolida in the northern Peloponnese on Tuesday arrested five men suspected of running a prostitution racket in the seaside village of Nea Kios.

The five suspects, all Pakistani nationals aged 21-29 years old are facing kidnapping and human trafficking charges, with two of the suspects, a 28-year-old and the 29-year-old, also looking at additional charges of racketeering.

On a raid on a home leased by the suspects, police, who were acting on a tip-off, found a 17-year-old girl being held against her will who was allegedly forced to have sex with the suspects and other men in exchange for money, which was pocketed by the gang.

The teenage girl is a Romanian national and police believe she was snatched from the prefecture of Corinthia and kept prisoner in a room in the Nea Kios house by the Pakistani suspects, who forced her into prostitution by using violence.
