Athens lawyers on three-day strike
Lawyers in Athens are staging a three-day strike beginning on Wednesday in protest at the government?s plan to open the sector to competition and other reforms. Meanwhile, bar associations around the country were expected to determine their own strike action on Wednesday.
Speaking on Skai Television on Wednesday, Athens Bar Association member Dimitris Vervessos noted that the proportion of lawyers in terms of the population does not justify the sector?s liberalization. ?Liberalization will not lead to citizen paying less for legal services; quite the contrary,? he claimed.
