Lawyers decide to extend strike until Tuesday
Lawyers across Greece are to stay away from work until Tuesday, January 17, they said on Wednesday.
Representatives of the country?s lawyers associations met in Athens on Wednesday and decided to extend their strike, which is being held to protest draft legislation designed to speed up the dispensation of justice.
The lawyers argued the problem could not be solved by using ?accounting methods? and opposed the introduction of a fee for people bringing cases to court.
They also claim that the liberalization of their profession will lead to legal firms dominating the market and preventing newcomers from being able to compete.
