Athens parking permit holdup to be solved soon
The City of Athens promised on Thursday that it would resolve within a few days the shortage of cards that allow visitors to pay to park their cars in the city center.
Deputy Mayor Anastasios Avrantinis said that the holdup has been caused be a legal complication in the renewal of the municipality?s contract with the private firm that provides the pay-and-display cards.
The municipal police have been instructed not to issue fines to drivers who park in the spaces allocated for visitors. However, other illegally parked cars will be penalized, said Avrantinis.
