City of Athens prepares for cold wave

As a wave of low temperatures continued to hit northern parts of the Greece including east Macedonia and Thrace on Thursday, cold weather was expected to travel south and reach more parts of the country later in the day.

On Thursday the City of Athens announced a series of emergency measures aimed at providing assistance to the homeless in view of the cold wave. These include the use of municipal venues to host those in need as well as a hotline (1960) for emergencies.

The City of Athens said it was cooperating with a number of non-governmental organizations, while members of the public wishing to contact local authorities may call the City of Athens Homeless Shelter (KYADA) at 210.524.6515 and 210.523.9465.
