Cold snap maintains grip
Meteorologists warn that the bad weather, which has hit the country since Saturday, will deteriorate this week.
Cold, rain and snow is expected in higher altitudes, according to the National Meteorological Service (EMY).
Light snowfall is also expected in the capital.
The City of Athens has announced a series of emergency measures aimed at providing assistance to the homeless during the cold wave. These include the use of municipal venues to host those in need as well as a hotline (1960) for emergencies.
Authorities said they were cooperating with a number of non-governmental organizations, while members of the public wishing to contact local authorities may call the City of Athens Homeless Shelter (KYADA) at 210.524.6515 and 210.523.9465.
