Dozens of villages cut off by snow
Dozens of villages around Greece have been cut off due to heavy snowfall in some parts of the country.
Around 90 villages in the area of Trikala in central Greece have been snowed in.
Ioannina airport in northeastern Greece has been closed due to the snow.
The fire service has helped to get several people suffering from illnesses to the hospital.
Trucks have been banned from driving on the national roads while the cold snap lingers.
The weather has improved in Athens but it is continuing to snow in northern and central Greece. More low temperatures are expected next week.
