Lawyers, engineers, doctors form anti-troika front
Associations representing lawyers, engineers and doctors have decided to join forces to oppose reforms and austerity measures being demanded by the country?s international creditors and are also planning to boycott German goods — an apparent dig at the government of Chancellor Angela Merkel, who has hardened her stance toward Greece.
The head of the Athens Bar Association, Ioannis Adamopoulos, on Tuesday accused representatives of foreign creditors of erroneously casting Greek lawyers as affluent and using blackmail ahead of the scheduled disbursement of each tranche of rescue aid.
The head of the engineers? association, Christos Spitzis, was more blunt: ?All that?s left is for the Germans to plant the German flag on the Acropolis.?
