Lakis Gavalas’s sister remanded over unpaid taxes

The 40-year-old sister of fashion entrepreneur Lakis Gavalas was remanded in custody on Tuesday on charges of owing 7.7 million euros in unpaid taxes.

The 40-year-old, who works for an interior design firm and a clothing import company, handed herself in to police on Monday.

Her 60-year-old brother remains in custody at Amfissa Prison in central Greece for debts of around the same amount.

He appealed on Monday to be granted conditional release pending trial.
