Snow still falling in northern Greece

Snow continued to fall in northern Greece on Wednesday morning but driving conditions improved in most areas.

Drivers were advised to use snow chains in mountainous areas but most roads were safe. Conditions improved significantly at Malgara toll station near Thessaloniki.

Schools in many parts of northern Greece remained closed on Wednesday. Ioannina Airport in northwestern Greece, was also closed.

The stretch of the Corinth-Patras national highway at Diakofto also closed due to a landslide.

There was a sprinkling of snow in Athens on Wednesday morning but temperatures were not low enough for it to settle.
