Eurogroup to meet on Greece on Thursday
BRUSSELS — A top eurozone official says that the currency bloc?s 17 finance ministers will meet in Brussels Thursday evening to discuss a second massive bailout for Greece.
Jean-Claude Juncker, who heads the finance minister meetings and is also Luxembourg?s premier, says the officials will meet at 1700 GMT.
Juncker called the meeting even though the leaders of the parties in Greeces coalition government had not yet endorsed the new austerity measures demanded in return for the second, 130 billion euro bailout.
Besides the bailout, the 17 eurozone finance ministers will also discuss a related deal with bondholders designed to slice some 100 billion euros off the country?s debt.
