Wintry conditions to continue over the weekend
The gale-force winds, subzero temperatures, snow and rain that have prevailed over the past few days will continue to buffet the country through the weekend, according to the Hellenic National Meteorological Service (HNMS).
Sections of the road network in northern Greece will remain closed, especially from Kozani to Florina, where temperatures dropped on Friday to -8 Celsius (18F), while motorists will also face problems in the mountains of the Peloponnese, which has seen more than 40 inches of snow in parts.
Snow will continue to fall on Saturday and Sunday in northern Greece and parts of Thessaly, with rain moving in as of Monday, starting in the west and spreading east.
