Attempted murder followed by suicide in Crete
A man, believed to be a German national, took his own life on Monday after attempting to kill a local gym owner in Iraklio, Crete, police reported.
The unnamed man allegedly ambushed the 34-year-old gym owner in the neighborhood of Koroni Magara as he approached his gym, shooting him five times and inflicting critical injuries, for which the victim is being treated at the Iraklio University Hospital.
The suspect then made his way to his wife’s place of employment at the Iraklio Soccer Clubs’ Association, where he turned the gun on himself.
Police were investigating the reasons that caused the German man to attack the gym owner and then commit suicide.
