Court ruling casts doubts on labor reserve scheme
A first instance court in Athens appears to have complicated the government?s plans to place 15,000 civil servants in a labor reserve this summer after judging that other public sector workers who were included in the scheme should be given their jobs back.
The court issued a temporary ruling saying the 10 employees of the School Buildings? Organization (OSK) should be allowed to return to work pending a closer assessment of the case.
Judges found that the move to place the employees in a labor reserve scheme because OSK was being merged with another organization was contravened European Union legislation.
Greece plans to reduce the number of civil servants it employees by 150,000 over the next three years.
