Radio station fined for Merkel abuse

An Athens radio station has been fined 25,000 euros after one of its journalists verbally abused German Chancellor Angela Merkel last year.

The National Council for Radio and Television fined Real FM after Giorgos Trangas ?abused the Greek language and used obscene characterizations? against Merkel during two live broadcasts in September and October in 2011.

Trangas offered his resignation, but it was not accepted.
