Ousted New Democracy MP starts own party
New Democracy outcast Panos Kammenos has launched his own political party, called Independent Greeks.
The outspoken Athens MP announced the launch of the new group via Facebook and Twitter on Friday morning.
He did not publish a manifesto but said that the party would not have any links with New Democracy and would oppose the EU-IMF loan agreement.
Kammenos was ousted from New Democracy?s parliamentary group in November after failing to give the coalition government led by Prime Minister Lucas Papademos his vote of confidence.
He was expelled from the party when he voted against the terms of the EU-IMF loan deal earlier this month.
