Minister, mayors at loggerheads over municipal funding
Interior Minister Tassos Yiannitsis and mayors of municipalities in Attica failed to agree on funding for this year on Tuesday.
Yiannitsis said he had secured 300 million euros but the mayors are pressing for 450 million.
?During a period of intense crisis, when the social role of municipalities is becoming more important, the response cannot be to give local authorities less money,? Athens Mayor Giorgos Kaminis said after the meeting.
