Gun-wielding robbers hold up Glyfada supermarket

Four masked robbers wielding Kalashnikov assault rifles burst into a supermarket in the southern Athens suburb of Glyfada on Saturday afternoon, forced cashiers to hand over an undetermined sum and fled.

The gunmen, who caused no injuries during the raid, fled in a stolen car that was later discovered by police a few blocks away from the branch of Sklavenitis that was targeted.

The robbers remained at large on Sunday.

In the northern suburb of Nea Erythraia early on Sunday morning, unidentified robbers broke into the home of a 73-year-old woman and tied her up before stealing cash and valuables.

Meanwhile police said they had detained three Greeks, two aged 29 and one aged 31, believed to be behind a string of armed robberies at shops and hotels in Athens.
