Tsipras demands BoG paperwork for 2011-12 bonds
The head of the Coalition of the Radical Left (SYRIZA), Alexis Tsipras (photo), on Monday asked the Finance Ministry to produce paperwork from the Bank of Greece relating to Greek government bond transactions between March 2011 and March 2012.
Tsipras said he is not satisfied with the response given by the country?s central bank relating to its handling of deposits made by public entities, such as hospitals, and social security funds.
SYRIZA claims the Bank of Greece broke the law by using several million euros deposited by these organizations to invest in Greek bonds, leading to the public bodies suffering severe losses when the notes were subjected to a haircut as part of the country?s debt restructuring process.
