Divorce made easier but more costly
Filing for an uncontested divorce has been made easier — but more expensive — thanks to new procedures introduced this week in a bid to reduce the backlog, Skai reported Tuesday.
Divorce is now allowed when the parties have lived together a minimum of six months, down from 12 months.
However the cost of filing for an uncontested divorce, which is when both spouses agree on the terms of the divorce, is now at 100 euros, up from 10 euros.
A different custody and maintenance agreement is required if the couple have children, the report said.
