PASOK to invite rebels back into the fold
Following a brief meeting late on Thursday, PASOK’s parliamentary committee has decided to extend an invitation to several MPs who were expelled from the Socialist party to return to the fold, on one condition: that they agree with PASOK’s policy line.
The lawmakers were ousted from the party by its former president, George Papandreou, in mid-March for not agreeing to the terms of Greece’s second bailout agreement with its creditors — the European Commission, European Central Bank and the International Monetary Fund.
PASOK’s new chief, Evangelos Venizelos, is expected on Friday to make a formal announcement inviting the expelled MPs back.
