EYP?s supplier of eavesdropping devices remanded
The owner of the company that supplied Greece?s National Intelligence Service (EYP) with state-of-the-art equipment to eavesdrop on suspects was remanded in custody on Friday after a magistrate questioned him in connection to alleged money laundering and profiteering.
An investigation by Greece?s committee against money laundering found that the Greek firm bought the equipment from a German company for 406,000 euros, then set up a phantom company in Cyprus that supposedly upgraded the software before selling the hardware to EYP for 3.9 million euros.
