Mayor approves of Athens stores opening on Sundays
Athens Mayor Giorgos Kaminis (photo) said on Wednesday that he is in favor of shops in the city center opening on at least some Sundays each year.
?People now look upon this issue with some maturity and shops have to stay open on some Sundays every year,? Kaminis told Skai Radio.
Earlier this week, the mayor helped unveil a regeneration scheme that could lead to more than 1.5 billion euros of European Union funds being invested in supporting commercial activity and improving the quality of life in downtown areas.
Among the measures proposed was for shops in central Athens to open for trade on Sunday.
