Sit-ins are a violation, Supreme Court prosecutor says
Responding to a spate of sit-ins at the offices of state and municipal organizations by disgruntled civil servants, Supreme Court prosecutor Yiannis Tentes on Thursday sent a circular to prosecutors, calling for all offenders to be charged henceforth with breaching the peace, which is a misdemeanor.
A sit-in is a violation, Tentes wrote in his circular, whether the protesters have entered the premises using force or not. In cases when the sit-ins are long-running and the protesters refuse to leave the premises, offenders could face detention ahead of prosecution.
